I bought this book which was the one I was talking about. Not from Amazon though it's the only picture of the book I could find. I ordered it on Barnes and Nobles and should be here some time this week or so they say.

The cool thing is the front cover art is the unit in the Civil War. That's the uniform and equipment they used, so I know that's that time period.

And another thing I found a book called "Ten Years In The Rank" it's a thick paperback book about Augustus Meyers a Fifer Musician from the unit I portray.

It's his diaries about his time in the war and after it I think since it's ten years, so I would assume it would be after or before the war. The Civil War only last for about four years. A few people told me this was a good book and read but very hard to find. If you do it's expensive, I also found it along with the other book and bought it to!

My collection of historical references for the unit I portray is finally adding up! I'll finally have a worthy book shelf soon enough!

so im more than halfway through the secret of Nimh. and...yesterday i couldnt help it so i skimmed to the end and i think my favorite character dies. for that reason, i can safely say i like the movie better T_T.

I don't recall anyone dying when I read the book, then again it's been so long. I read it in elementary school.

they hint at him dying. but he doesnt come back in the sequels so im guessing he's dead T_T

I finished the Secret of Nimh!!!!!!

I still enjoy the movie more. The book was very good but after being taught the Secret of Nimh had a mystical aspect to it and it suddenly not being there in the book was rather disappointing. There was no glowy stone...yeah...I mean compared to the movie I found the book anti-climatic. Then again, it's very hard to beat a sword fight at the very end and have a magic stone lift the block out of the mud XD. But the number one reason why the movie (in my opinion) surpasses the book is because Justin didn't die and became leader of the rats. Someone like that deserves a happy ending!

^ No offense, but I think the movie might of been diluted for little kids. The book is the more adult version. I mean glowing rocks that levitate things? That's taking it a bit too far, so is a sword fight but whatever.

^ what? if anything, I thought the movie was more towards adults and the book was more towards kids. I mean, did you see the giant spider that the Great Owl just crushes with his bare claws! And the bones all over the place? Not to mention the blood and dark scenery. I mean, yeah it's a little cliche to have a glowing rock but at least it isn't completely random. But that's just my opinion.

Well I'm just taking what you told me about the movie, I never really saw it.

Mrs. Brisby (Frisby, whatever they couldnt get the rights to her real name) goes to see the Great Owl. As she's walking, she stumbles upon old bones from mice he has already eaten. Then a giant spider comes down to attack her. But the Great Owl's eyes glow, then his head turns, and he slams his claws on it. Then he eats a moth that flies by. It's one of the creepiest/darkest scenes of the whole movie. Next to the Justin and Jenner fight. I love that scene.

Oh maybe I should give this movie a try then. Dark scenes do sound interesting. I thought it would be a really sappy Disney like movie. One where it's too overbearing.

^ no. it's rather dark (not just story wise but lighting wise as well.) it only gets sappy at two instances (at least, from what i remember and what i would think is sappy).

the ending in general, yes. but the book's kind of sappy too.

Well the one book I posted here about ordering for thirteen bucks has finally arrived!

I haven't read much, I just skimmed to look at the different uniforms they wore during all the time periods. They had some very interesting designs. They kind of lack that interesting look after the 1900's though. The late 1890's kind of lack as well but not as much. Still they all are interesting.

I found a hat from the 1820's that just looks way awesome! I got to find myself one of them at some store.

And I found an interesting quote regarding the unit I portray during the Mexican/American War, it was from a captured Mexican general, paraphrased by a Captain of the unit I portray.

"He could not get over the reckless abandon of the opponents. He had fought Texans, Mexicans, Spaniards, and Indians, but have never before seen a set of soldiers that would charge into the mouth of a battery (that's military for artillery) under a storm of grapeshot. It was this that disheartened the Mexicans and put them to flight. They thought we were devils incarnate."

^ That's great that you got your book. I hope it's in good condition.

The quote is interesting though I'm afraid my US History I knowledge is lacking so I don't really have an opinion on it.

The next book I'm looking forward to is the final installment of the Looking Glass Wars Trilogy. It's called "Arch Enemy". Though I don't really like the cover of it, it reminds me of Bionicle haha. But, I'm still looking forward to it! I hope the ending to the series is epic and not another HP7 epilogue or a Breaking Dawn ending. Those are just simply way too sappy for me.

Hmmm... i have never heard of that series before... What's it like?
EDIT: After looking at the cover of that book...
I see no relation to Bionicle at all...
Maybe i'm looking at the wrong book?
