I don't bother watching most holiday films since most are too overbearing. It's almost as if sappiness barfed over the whole screen.

I like realistic drama in the stories I watch. Not all of them are like that, but most are blah. I can only watch so much until it just annoys me to no end.

yeah no, i prefer fantasy and what not. and just the right touch of sappiness. too much and its stupid. and it has to have a good story.

It depends, like I was watching one second of this movie called Grandma got ran over by a reindeer, though it was overbearing with the sappiness to the point where it was stupid.

Well what shows would you consider way too sappy for you to even watch.

almost any movie that is from the Lifetime channel.

^ forget about those. im saw one where a creepy ass mom was like "i wont give up my daughter to a man" so she made herself sick and stuff just to get her daughter away from her boyfriend XD. it was ridiculous.

Kind of reminds me of an American Dad episode where Stan gets Roger, the alien, sick so that he won't have to spend time with his wife.

^ Those are two different versions of the same show. They redid it in 2001. The japanese one is the old version and the american one is the new one.

Oh shoot, I though that was the one I did post, I got them mixed up.

Still I find the English version more interesting, though I have seen the show with both openings. I like the use of the different music styles. I never really did care for the versions the Japan versions used where there was a woman singing in the background, it seems way too repetitive, plus it doesn't go all that well with what the stories are usually about.

it depends on the show. usually (at least the shows ive watched) the song does go with the show. hmmm actually....wait....never mind, i cant remember any of the lyrics to the songs im thinking about right now. so dont quote me on that XD.

Usually it's just a popular band of some kind in Japan that they use certain parts of the lyrics from. Maybe they do go with the story in some way, but music without dialog is just as captivating.

Sometimes it works if it was intended for the opening, like for example the Dragon Ball theme, not Dragon Ball Z, the original one where they are all kids. The song was made for it, I don't care for those where they just slap some kind of punk rock or whatever it is band song into it.

i wouldnt really consider it slapping the song on because they do (at least the ones ive seen) match the animation with the song. so there is some thought to it.
