Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
I never mentioned it here, but Naga looks like Aang's old version of Appa or his spirit guide. The sketch of him is in the art book, if you have it. He's a dog who's standing on his feet.

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
It's not an exact replica, but I think they're referencing the animal for a tribute in a way.

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
that wouldn't surprise me. i think someone said the creators made Bolin kind of like how they originally envisioned Toph.

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
Well that might be true. That wouldn't surprise me either, because they used Mako as a name.

I'll be happy if someone stubs their toe on a rusty boomerang or sword.

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
im just happy with the fact that Toph's daughter is the chief of police. i dont know why, but i just keep thinking of Commissioner Gordon from batman. that and one of the metal bending cop dudes looks like King Bradley from FMA

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
I'm still hoping that one of the original Avatar characters is alive. It's kinda lame if they all croaked.

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
yeah me too. especially since characters have lived to be over 100 in the series.

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
We haven't heard much at all about Sokka, which makes me think he's still alive and they don't want to say much about that.

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
i was thinking either him or Toph simply because Toph was one of the youngest and women tend to live longer than men.

In our day and age, but what about theirs? They don't have to apply our logic to the series. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

^ I sort of figured, looked a little alike. Still has that Narnia feel to it to.
And cool news about the panels! I'll check them out later maybe, right now I'm sucking up too much space with my computer/internet lol.

I've already learned everything by second hand, so I'd probably watch the whole panel thing when I got nothing else to do. Thanks for the links though!

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
I figured since we have a downer topic about Korra, I could spread some good news about the concept art! Found most of this pictures on another forum, where they were posted.
Early concept for Korra.
Early concept for Mako and Bolin.
Bolin's expression sheet.
Two of Tenzin and Pamma's kids (Jenora bottom row; Ikki top left)
The third kid, Meelo
(Bryan: "We kept wanting him to be a really cute kid and Ryu’s like no, he’s ugly."
The chi-blockers. Steampunk influences are pretty obvious in the golden mouthpiece/goggles..
And here are the cars in the Korra universe.
Bryan and Mike...

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
I didn't know what Tenzin's other children were going to look like or how old they were going to be. I always imagined them to be older because of Tenzin's appearance.
The ChiBlocker's design totally looks like that one villain from HellBoy.
I still don't really know what to expect, but I hope they don't overpower Korra like they did with Katara. I didn't enjoy her character that much (especially when episodes were dedicated to her) So a main would be even more painstaking.
If they can keep her away from MarySue territory everything should be alright. I just know that they kept bringing Katara back into it and then realized too late and quickly yanked her out only to do it again.

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
i already see the problem with people having high expectations for this show in the avatar communities.
at first, people wanted this to be like the Dark Knight or draw from the idea of the Dark Knight. and now that they've seen mafia, people are drawing comparisons to Baccano! so i imagine a lot of people are going to be disappointed because i don't think it's going to turn out that way at all. first of all, both those are more mature than Korra will be which is stepping into the 'Korra would be better if it was more mature' philosophy.
basically, i think the longer they stretch the show from being released, the more disappointed fans will be. especially since they're already putting Korra on a pedestal when it isn't even out yet. they're hoping Korra is so good that people forget about M Night's movie.

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
However the show comes out, I will watch it until the end. I can't see it being a butcher because Mike and Bryan, who made Avatar are working on it.
I also really want to shove a boot up someone's ass if they literally think that guns, guts, and brain splatter defines an amazing show. I always stick by it. Unnecessary violence is always dumb. Avatar had just enough to keep me interested and amazed.
Did I need to see someone's arm getting ripped off for me to keep watching? Hell no. And if someone else does, well that's their problem. Most Animes I watch/saw normally have a lot of unneeded violence.

Re: Korra Comic Con Revealed
i dont think it's going to be bad. i just think it's not going to be what people expect. i think people are putting too much expectations onto this show. that's all. i think it's still going to be badass.
