Re: Early suggestions
Sure why not. It's not like we're depicting an actual crime scene. Just tell me what you want LS, I'll bend to meet your RP requirements.

Re: Early suggestions
then i would prefer you were more on the 'solo' side. that's not to say the actual police force won't be involved ^_~ but it's really the only detective story type i know XD

Re: Early suggestions
Alright, well this isn't going to be a hardened detective. This guy or whatever will be one who finally landed his first good case, so he's still inexperienced with it.

Re: Early suggestions
that's fine. i just have to do a little bit more thinking to make sure it makes sense and isn't too difficult. it's easier to find things logical when you are the one making the story ;)

Re: Early suggestions
That's very true, especially when I write up the chapters and think that you'll catch on sometimes.

Re: Early suggestions
yeah but im not really trying to figure out what's going on half the time lol. i mean, i think about it a little but not like i do when im trying to solve a murder XD. and i don't want to make this too easy or too difficult.

Re: Early suggestions
Well if you're not trying to figure out anything, then no wonder that you're not understanding/realizing things that are revealed.

Re: Early suggestions
^ just because im not trying to figure anything out, doesn't mean im not looking for things to be revealed. im looking for things to be revealed but im not going to go and probe every chapter to try and put the clues together. it's how i read any story that isn't a 'who done it?': i just go with it and let the story take its course and let it reveal things naturally while occasionally speculating. because chances are, even if i do speculate, my theories are so off the wall there's no way their true =p

Re: Early suggestions
Well something you should know about our Avatar RP and the FF of it, is that I write it in a style that leaves some mysteries. Some that can be realized with a little extra thinking. I don't always make everything blatantly obvious, only sometimes.
Which is why some chapters and revealing bits can be a bit ambiguous. I just don't like the whole idea of blurting everything out or some things, which are so painfully clear. Just seems to take the fun out of it all (in the sense of writing it and reading it)

Re: Early suggestions
I don't mind things being ambiguous or even left unanswered. I don't need a neatly packaged ending to like a story. However, I do think there are certain plot points that need to be revealed such as why the people in the village were contaminated and what they were contaminated with. You can't just build up to certain points in a story and then leave them unanswered.
If you want the audience to have to really think in order to figure out what happened, you'd still have to leave some clues that basically say 'you have to think about this' otherwise they won't and expect it to be revealed later. Even if you want people to think about it, they may still even expect it to be revealed more clearly later on so they know if their theories were correct or not.
And I definitely don't think things should be revealed all at once of course.
I'm not saying the RP/story necessarily does any of these. Since, honestly, I don't know what you're planning but that's just what I think in terms of telling a story.

Re: Early suggestions
Well yeah I already revealed why they were contaminated in sentence 22 of chapter 9, then you must combine that sentence with sentences 70 and 72 of chapter 20. After that you need to stand upside down while reading paragraph 5 of chapter 25...don't forget to suck on a lemon :P
I reveal things when it's necessary to or when it heavily effects or relates to the chapter or what is going on in the chapter. That's why I took a lot of stuff out that lead nowhere or took out Ai and Lee's different stories because of course it explained stuff about them, it really had no place where it was. (I still found ways to reveal little bits of both of them with their pre-series stories. Who knows I might even reveal more with the stories later in the FF, but I probably won't add the entire pre-series story.

Re: Early suggestions
^ right. when you said you like ambiguous things, i was thinking you were going to just not going to explain some of the questions that need answers at all XD
and yeah, those stories weren't necessary to the RP. they can stand on their own as prequels.

Some things need to be explained in the prequels though or at least vaguely touched.

Re: Early suggestions
Well good news on my laptop. They contacted me and are now making the repairs. It'll cost about $150, which isn't bad considering how much it cost me brand new.

Re: Early suggestions
Considering the price I paid for it brand new, it's worth it for me.

Re: Early suggestions
it does sound worth it. though, did you have a warranty on it? if it's that new, you'd think they would have fixed it for free =/

Re: Early suggestions
No I meant I bought it when it was brand new and it was really expensive, so this price is worth it.

Hopefully they can get my laptop to me before school starts. I really want to get started on that surprise again, that way I can upload it on here for a treat before school.
