Korra Commercials
So, we finally got an official commercial (or rather, a part of a commercial)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlkBZp5rleA
I thought I'd share because it looks like they used animated storyboards instead of actual footage which seems pretty neat.

Re: Korra Commercials
Looks interesting, has a different style to it. Can't remember where I've seen that before, I think it was with a game, which was really nice. Still can't remember though :P
I think the reason they went that approach was because they might not be allowed to show clips from the series which weren't in the trailers and they didn't want to just clip stuff from the trailers. That way it was new and fresh stuff for the audience.

Re: Korra Commercials
You mean the animated storyboard look? I know they use that for cutscenes in American McGee's Alice Madness Returns. and im pretty sure i posted links to that so maybe that's what you're thinking of?
I think its just a marketing strategy. Beauty and the Beast did the same thing where they showed a preview of it as a work in progress and people loved it.

Re: Korra Commercials
No, it was an entire game like that. Where it looked like a work in progress with cut outs or something. I can't very well describe it unless I see it again.
Those bad guys, the chi blockers in the suits remind me of the enemies Naruto's team encounters during their Survival test in the forest.

Yeah I can't remember the name of the game for the life of me. Although some Zelda games have that cutout/storyboard art to start off the game. It's more of like mosaic cutout art, like it's ancient art honoring the past and the heroes from before.
Well the Naruto bad guys look like Scuba-divers to.

Re: Korra Commercials
yeah but these guys look more like Scuba-divers :p
I think Zelda Windwaker made it look like they were drawn on ancient scrolls or something.

Re: Korra Commercials
Right, isn't that what I said? Well I said Zelda, close enough. There have been other Zelda games after it, which had utilized that style as well. I might be wrong, but I think Skyward Sword did that to, but it wasn't as interactive. It was more of a kinestasis.

Yeah, I was agreeing with you and telling you Windwaker kind of used the style you were talking about :p

Re: Korra Commercials
There's one game, I think it's called Fur Fighters (really old by the way) that has a cut out and cel-shaded look to the game. It's not the game I was talking about before, but all this mention reminded me of the game.

Re: Korra Commercials
You know what? Those guys remind me of the TMNT foot soldiers, seriously it looks like they were inspired by them. It's probably just the way they walk when hunched over.
Also since they are chiblockers, do you think TyLee had anything to do with this? I don't mean psychically, but maybe they used her knowledge to their advantage.

Right, but do you think she taught someone who eventually turned coat?

Re: Korra Commercials
it could be that she taught the kyoshi warriors and some of them went to work for Amon.

I doubt the Kyoshi Warrior's had anything to do with it.

How do you know? most of the Kyoshi warriors (actually, i think all of them) are non-benders.

Because they are honorable members. I meant someone who too TyLee's studies and was corrupt.

Re: Korra Commercials
Yeah but Lee it's been 75 years. There could easily have been at least one person that was corrupted amongst the Kyoshi Warriors or became corrupted and then either joined or whatever Amon's forces.
This is taking place during the 1920s of the Avatar Universe. Im sure their principles have changed hence why there's going to be an anti-bender campaign in the first place. If it's anything like our 1920s, there isn't much honor going around.

Re: Korra Commercials
I don't think it's 1920s so much as steampunk with its own little twist.

Re: Korra Commercials
^ the music department has said they are combining jazz (1920s music) with asian music.
i think there have been other mentions to the 1920s besides the music department but i cant remember when.
and based on the clips...im pretty sure they're going to have at least SOME 1920s influences.....

Re: Korra Commercials
Right, but that's just the music. I don't recall airships being in the 20's. It's steampunk mostly. Just look at the costumes and getup of the chiblockers, they just scream steampunk.

Re: Korra Commercials
and look at the gangsters in the trailer, that's 1920s :p
and yes, there were airships in the 1920s. Hindenburg disaster was in 1937.

Re: Korra Commercials
Pft, that thing was just a big balloon. This thing is a giant metal box. Besides the gang members became really notorious in the 30's, so it's probably set in that era.
