Music

Post  Uruviel on Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:50 pm

I think we used to have a thread like this at one of the older forums, so I thought I'd make one here.

We can share music videos and songs that we either like, dislike, find interesting, entertaining or irritating. Also to share music news, e.g. new albums that are about to come out, music industry gossip, etc, etc, etc. Basically, this is a thread where we can talk about anything music related :D

I'll go first.

I can't even remember what I searched for in youtube, but somehow I clicked my way through to this Korean song. And now I can't get it out of my head. I don't normally listen to Korean music, but I really like this band, and this song. The video is heart-wrenching, the lyrics are kinda sad (though weirdly translated), but the tune and the beat are really great, and the band members are too hot for words Love Struck haha, anyways, enjoy:

yeah..... I think I'm going into a sort of pop and r n b phase now thanks to these guys.

This is the first song I ever heard of their's -- apparently it was made to promote this new line of LG cell phones in korea :P Anyway, it's a great song to dance and run to :D

and, I mentioned Tatu's All The Things She Said: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mGBaXPlri8
That's also a great song to run to -- also a great one to listen to when you're driving really fast XD

I'm not really into most modern songs...I mean like the rapping and lyrics. I just don't really care for them. I prefer the actual music rhythm, the sound by itself. Not sure what that's really called.

For example I really like Civil War reenactments where brass bands play by the campfire at night. Most of them are pretty good and they rely on the instrument and beats more then they rely on their own voice.

This is probably not the best example of Civil War music, but I like it!

Nice. I guess you're more into intrumental and game music then? Do you like listening to movie soundtracks too? (I'm thinking of the LOTR one, which I love)

Oh no I'm not into game music as I am into the beats...so if it's a catchy tune from a game I guess I'd like it. There are a few music files from games that I like.

I like instruments that are more energetic like a violin when it's being fiddled or banjos just to name to. Calm music is good, I don't deny that, but I like the chaotic but organized energy of those instruments.

i think its just called instrumental. thats what they call the songs on my Disney cds anyway =D.

i dont listen to new stuff really either....just various soundtracks to anime, broadway plays, films, etc.

edit: i like music with a violin in it. or a cello. like Still Doll: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWUxZ7LIUss

Yeah -- I like that song too! Strings are great. Umm... I recently discovered a genre called String Metal XD

e.g. Apocalyptica's song with Adam Gontier from Three Day's Grace: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxDcWvZCSRg

This is a different version from what's played on the radio, but it's still just as awesome.

I don't listen to the radio too often anymore, mostly because I can't stand the ads and the hosts. They're all so stupid, they annoy me. But my two favourite stations (at the moment) are Live 88.5 and Tag Radio X. They both play rock (more of indie and punk than the AC/DC and old Nickelback type of rock). Tag is actually a Quebecois station, so I get to listen to some french rock as well as english stuff, which is cool even if I don't really understand the lyrics :P

That's pretty much the same with me. that's why i tend to like Game music and Anime BGM more then actual songs, although there are a few exceptions, but they're not really that recent.

Shake shake shake senora, shake it all the time!

Hahaha that takes me back to when I was a kid. We used to listen to a cassette of Harry Belafonte's songs while going home from school in the car.

I found this site years ago, back in late 2008, but then the site just died randomly. It wasn't until now that I found it and it's back and working.

Anyway this is a video game site dedicated to all sorts of systems and game music. It has almost every classic game song you can think of. There are a few missing, but it's sort of a donating site, where you can add the songs that you find or remix.

http://www.vgmusic.com/

Thought I'd share it here.

Yeah it kind of sucked when it went down because I was using it to keep myself occupied when working on 3D and animation work way back when I started this major lol. It did help keep my sanity when I was drawing this annoying project frame...by frame.

I just listened to Donkey Kong Country music. It had some great beats for its time.

Just remember to give credit at the end, you never know when it will hurt your grade for not giving credit where it is due.
