Art Class Homework

I love how I felt I was doing good in the beginning and then I tried to add more like my professor wanted and just screwed everything up after that :p

I take it the Oswald hand is the one on the top? Kind of reminds me of the Simpsons hands to! Pretty neat.

no it's the one in the middle :p


i dont really watch the simpsons....so ill just take your word for it.

Whether or not you watch the show, (which I could've sworn you said you watched it when you were younger) it shouldn't be hard to remember how they were designed/drawn. See the simplicity in Bart's hand, that's what I was getting at. I thought that was the Oswald hand.



Anyway what is the bottom hand? It looks like something straight from The Lord of the Rings. It might just be that big eye.

I only saw like two episodes when I was younger. Not enough to remember what their hands look like.

The bottom one is from Pan's Labyrinth.

It's an interesting drawing, it also reminded me of that one Naruto character. It's kind of creepy to, but in a good way. What's your assignments for this week?

Also this is the second version of the reenactment still lifes I did. It was for one of my drawing assignments.

Thanks, by shapes do you mean something like working with negative space or the basic shapes?

i think its negative space but im not sure.

Not that you have to, but plants normally have interesting negative space.

yeah i was thinking about doing something cool like a plant. or something....

I don't have any of my negative space drawings uploaded, but the plant versions are the more interesting in my opinion.

ill just do a plant then.

or a leaf. LEAVES. ILL DO PRETTY FALL LEAVES.

That's not really negative space, unless these leaves are connect somehow. You are not working with the object, you are working with the space around the objects. So if you draw a leaf or leaves that are separated, you're not really doing the assignment right.

I was just going to make them overlap one another.

and then maybe rip/cut shapes out in their middles.

You should probably ask your professor first, because some of them want natural objects to be drawn. Well ones that you haven't specifically altered to make the drawing, if that makes sense.

we'll go over it tomorrow anyway so im sure ill know then.

So what's the status update on your art class? What kind of project are you working on or what kind of negative space layout are you going with?

oh we did it in class. lol.

Do you have homework/coursework you do away from class? I only ask because you've never mentioned any. Most art classes I've had, we've always had some big project to do every week.

Yeah, no we get a big project due every week but the professor gives us pretty much the entire class time to work on it. So we had 3 hours to work on the project in class last week.

It isn't always like that but last week it was. Which was how I finished it. But instead of doing that for homework, I took home the contour drawing and added to it based on her suggestions. Only because she says if we do that, our grade will go up. And the last project I turned in (which I thought was good) got a B so I went all paranoid and brought the contour drawing home to fix it and get brownie points :p

We also get a sketchbook drawing assigned each week.

So ....yeah. Im actually not feeling well today so I dont know if I'll post the negative space drawing today.
