Release Date and Title Change

So, big announcements today. For one, we got information that the release date is going to be out tomorrow at a NYC press conference. And yes, I am spazzing a little because for once Mike and Bryan are actually in NY.

And secondly, apparently a lot of fans asked Bryan on tumblr why the series wasn't just going to be called "The Legend of Korra" instead of "The Last Airbender: the Legend of Korra". So, the name of the show has been changed to "The Legend of Korra".

Sounds great, I'm guessing you found this on tumblr? I think they should had kept Avatar in it though, not sure what the point of taking it out is. I mean it is a continuation of the series.

they cant have Avatar in the title because they dont have the rights to it. idk it has something to do with James Cameron's Avatar. Like, they can use Avatar: The Legend of Korra as the title in the US but then they wont be able to have any merchandise say that.

Alright James Cameron needs to go in a hole. Seriously the guy is an asshole if this is his say. Big deal, your movie wasn't that great. This series also called Avatar, is much better. Deal with it.

^ it's not entirely his fault though. Nick could have fought it if they wanted to and probably would have won. But they didn't pursue it.

Still he thinks so highly of himself that no one else can have that in their title. Avatar The Last Airbender came out way before Avatar.

Damn, why does it have so early? This is a totally stupid schedule, night times are the way to go. I'm going to miss every episode, god damn it.

and yeah, i think the morning schedule is stupid. but apparently all of Nick's cartoons air new episodes in the morning now. this also happened with Young Justice @_@.

Seriously? I can understand juvenile kid cartoons, but if they think the teen population will watch Young Justice or Avatar (or any heavily plotted show in the morning) they're out of their mind.

Seriously I know they think it's still for kids, but most kids who are watching in the morning are too young to even understand what is going on with most shows, this is going to flop horribly with the audiences tuning in. I bet you that they change it later.

The problem is that I don't have a vcr, I can't record it. Nor do I have that Tivo or whatever the hell it is. I'm just stuck without a way to get it, unless I want to venture online after its been aired, and be spoiled by all the dorks who end up commenting in the videos.

You can get a DVD recorder. I dont have one (used to) but I would go that route if I were you.

And yeah, I completely agree. This is a really stupid idea. I dont know how well Young Justice has been doing lately but I haven't watched a single episode on tv.

So apparently if 100,000 people like the Korra Nation facebook page, they're going to release the premiere on March 24 instead of April 14.

I dont have a facebook but if you do, I suggest you like them if you haven't done so already.

What the hell, why are they so fickle now? Just give me a solid date and stop flipflopping it.

Honestly it still feels like Nick is treating this series with less respect than the other shows like Spongebob. You would think they would change their mind with the fanbase and amazing artistic animations, but nope.

Saturday morning cartoons are for those shows that are cheaply done. Every Saturday morning cartoon I can think of are not on the same level of dedication as the Avatar Team.

It's either cheap done animation like Johnny Test, which is horrid that that show is even still airing. Or an anime that's not that great in plot and voice actors.

It's not going to be released on tv early. It's going to be online early.

And, I also heard that the first episode (which is an hour long premiere so it's really the first two episodes) is going to be available on the Xbox for free.

Oh, I don't get it. Why would they air it online first. Sure that's great for everyone else, but it seems like a poor business move.

Why wouldnt they air it online first? Most people watch television shows by connection their computers to their tvs nowadays. or, they have netflixs or something. or they just watch it online via iTunes, Netflix, etc.

watching tv shows on cable is starting to dwindle in popularity. or so my TV Crit professor says. cant say how accurate that is though cause i dont have any statistics to prove it.

I don't know, I guess I'm stuck in the old age, but I just enjoyed anticipating when the series or any show would air on a set hour at that night. It was fun and everyone could sit together and watch it like a family or a group of friends.

Now it's like meh, I'll watch it whenever and no one ever seems to sit down and enjoy the shows with their friends/family. Society seems to be going backwards in regard to social skills.

i agree with you in terms of waiting for a tv show. but from my understanding, i think you can watch certain shows as soon as they air on tv with Netflix. not positive though if that's a limited number of shows but...yeah.
