Re: L.A. Noire
You don't even have a 3DS yet though, do you? Anyway I got my LA Noire game to work again.
I know your tastes to a certain extent, and I know fully well that if you played this game you would rant for eons about certain parts. And honestly I felt slightly distanced from the main character, which is really a bad move.
His other partner who you take over later is pretty cool though. There's a lot of corruption in the game with some police and the government.
Every time you watch some movie or play some game with a corrupt politician and are confronted, they always greet the main protagonist with open arms and a crooked grin, ready to strike when they least suspect it, or somehow throw all evidence out of the window because the main is usually to good to play dirty.
The second character is awesome though. Skip to 4:40

Re: L.A. Noire
It isn't even out yet in America lol. I got time.
I still want to play LA Noire but we haven't gotten any new games for the Xbox. Mainly cause my mom's kind of pissed that my sisters haven't been playing it when they were the ones that were pushing for the Xbox.
I beat my game already and since it wasn't amazing where I'd want to replay it, I haven't played the Xbox in a while.

You wouldn't probably enjoy LA Noire that much. The game and crime scenes are fun, but what I've already told you would probably turn you off. Jack Kelso is a bad ass though, that's how all crooks need to be dealt with.

Re: L.A. Noire
^ i dont really care so much about distance with noir: the fun part about noir is trying to figure it out yourself. the main character doesnt have to necessarily be interesting.

Wait until you've played the game to make that assumption.

Re: L.A. Noire
ive had this assumption even before it was brought up because its just one of those things i dont really pay attention to with noir in general.
sure, there are a lot of noir that has the main guy having some complicated/dark past or they're a 'regular' character that has a series of noir but i usually watch it to try and figure out the mystery. so character development is one of my least concerns :p

L.A. Noire
It has nothing to do with character development. Like I said you have to play the game to understand.
There's two things that get on my nerves. Cole Phelps the first main is a serious detective, a new cop straight out of WW2. Treats his job with respect and is a kind guy to most people he meets.
There's this new feature in LA Noire about detecting whether someone is lying, telling the truth, or the weird doubt button. When someone is telling the truth he acts like he's supposed to. When you select lie or doubt, he goes OOC totally. He goes ballistic apeshit on the person. A lot of people have complained about it.
That's not the part I'm referring to though. It's half way through the game and is a really crappy plot. Then the game revolves more around Cole because of this and the cases are more irrelevant.

For an accurate description of how he acts during an interrogation, watch this.

Re: L.A. Noire
The way the people make signs and facial expressions to tell that they're lying is basically just as accurate as to what the girl was doing. That's another thing that was funny, yet so true.
It's like, asks question.
I told you, I don't know! *Turns head completely and looks away, while fidgeting)

Re: L.A. Noire
While trying to find a reference to how bad some people hide their facial expressions, I found this clip.

I found it pretty cool, also Cole Phelps the character looks like a really well done model of the real voice actor.

Re: L.A. Noire
It's only $30 compared to what it was originally. If you wait a little longer it might go down, but that might take another year.

You could also go to GameStop or wherever pre-owned games are held and try there.

So you can't even test a game or something to see if it works?

Re: L.A. Noire
^ No cause my mom wants me to only open boxes where I'm going to put the stuff away when I've opened it and I had to get rid of the shelf that had all my games/DVDs in it. the shelf was right in the line of fire when the firemen were hosing my basement down so I have nowhere to put my DVDs/games yet.
I also think I lost a wire to my PS2 so I have to either find the wire, replace the wire, or replace the system :D
and most of my games are PS2 games lol XD.
So yeah...it's not that simple. and i also can't get any sort of shelf or anything until, again, the insurance company gives us money to go and buy the stuff. it's really all just one vicious cycle and it's a pain in the ass. I also can't even look at my books until I get a new book shelf @_@.
