So yeah if I suddenly became rich, those are the top two things I would buy. Realistically the rifle, ridiculously the cannon.

I'd probably have to make some sort of deep buried concrete structure, which the cannon would be bound to, if I was to realistically buy one. Otherwise I would awake one day to find it missing.

Unless you bought the cannon from a dumbass that doesn't really know what they have. Then it's totally possible.

Well can you point me in the right direction? I did once see a big-ass wooden cannon on someone's front lawn. Their entire house was on a very steep hill near a street, so I always wondered what would happen if the wheels came loose.

I have no idea where to find idiots. I try to avoid them at all costs. :p

I would suggest looking more up north where people don't really understand the potential value of having a cannon and aren't as informed maybe? Also, try places where a family or person is really desperate to get rid of things because they're moving and can't take the things with them. I mean, I went to a thrift store where a lot of the stuff was expensive but I did manage to find an Art of Mulan book for $6 where on Amazon those usually go for $20 or more.

You just have to get lucky with a person who just wants to sell it and be done with it and doesn't care how much they get. There's no real trick to it.

Pretty sure people use real ones for decoration not fake ones but I could be wrong.

They probably have to be dismantled in some way so that they can't actually fire live rounds. I mean if you keep a cannon in a shed for reenactment purposes, that's different. Having it outside for the whole world to see is a bit different.

You never know when you'd get some dumbass teen coming by doing something they shouldn't be.

I don't think any teenager would be capable of accidentally firing a cannon if that's what you're suggesting. The only thing I see an idiot teenager doing with a cannon is hitting their head on it.

Teenagers do stupid **** and are fully aware of the consequences and what they are doing.

I didn't say they weren't aware of what they were doing, I'm saying I don't think a teenager is smart enough to shoot a cannon successfully. Those are two totally different things.

At least, no one in my area could do it. They wouldn't even bother because they wouldn't know how so they wouldn't get the stupid idea in their head in the first place. And if by some miraculous reason they did try it, they wouldn't succeed. Because they're stupid.

There was some kid who found a live shell from a testing ground site and then proceeded to cut it open with a hack saw. Needless to say, the abrasive metal teeth caused a spark and he lost his arm.

Kids by me are way too busy doing drugs to attempt that stupid **** :p

Yeah, in an area where that COULD physically happen. I mean, maybe by your area they have those kinds of things but by me, a kid wouldn't be able to physically do what that kid did because it's too suburban for there to be a testing ground site. Now I'm not saying they can't do something stupid, but they probably wouldn't think to try a cannon because they'd probably just assume it's fake anyway.

Cause I want my 1855 musket first :P And oddly enough I had a dream about that not too long ago after mentioning this.

that's not really that weird. ive been having dreams of my trying to move back to California after mentioning it. its pretty common to dream about things you talk about in real life.

Well this one was just stupid. I bought the rifle with a functioning primer tape plate. Then some appraisal person looks it over, against my wishes, and is like "Yep it's a fake."

"No ****, it's a reproduction dumbass."

"I'll give you ten dollars for it."

We were in a pretty poor neighborhood and a hurricane came and I was really disappointed there weren't any sharks in the hurricane but whatever I guess I'll take it.
