Re: Korra Nation
Seriously the idea of a miniature combustible projectile canon alludes them. Or even canons. It just seems silly.

it is silly.
which is why i think that it would be cool if Mike and Bryan were lying to us and really part of Amon's plan is to have a weapon like that.
it's super cliche, i know but it could be pretty badass if they found a way to make it original. and it would make sense because since Amon is part of the anti-bending revolution or whatever, giving the non-benders a weapon like that would potentially 'make them equal to benders'.

Re: Korra Nation
I only caught a little of that, wasn't it a Gatling gun though? I saw a few seconds of some episode mentioning that. They also had the Gatling gun in the Shanghai Knights.

Re: Korra Nation
I remember them talking (not actually seeing it) so they were mentioning something from the past. Like two skilled swordsman were mowed down by a Gatling gun.

Re: Korra Nation
The Gatling Gun was the first heavy machine gun used. It was commissioned and then used in the later years of the Civil War. It didn't see much use, but it did help sweep the Confederates out of their trenches (once they began to dig themselves in at the end)

Re: Korra Nation
What date does Kenshin take place in? If it's the late 1800's then it's probably the Gatling Gun. I can't think of any other weapon made before or around that time, that was as strong or new as it.

Re: Korra Nation
Alright so that's it then. The Gatling gun and the other inventions after that ended the way of the ninja and samurai.

Re: Korra Nation
The Last Samurai is pretty much about that. You should watch it, even though it's not totally historically accurate, it's still a good film.

Re: Korra Nation
Tom Cruise? If so, then yes. He portrays a Union officer who comes to help the Japanese in their fight against the samurais. Yup after their Civil War, they totally wanted to help out Japan.

Re: Korra Nation
^ yeah the one that's borderline racist. haven't seen the movie so i cant say if it is or isn't but it has a similar plotline that Avatar (blue people avatar) was getting controversy for.

Re: Korra Nation
I don't recall it being racist on account that it was just Japanese militia being trained to fight rebels of their own land. There was only two other characters, who were from America. One of them dies early on so Cruise is left and he doesn't show much hatred to either side.

Re: Korra Nation
^ racist in the sense that the Japanese need a white man to help save them instead of being able to do it on their own.

Re: Korra Nation
I think the director wanted to use the tactics they used in the American Civil War (for the actual Army not the volunteers) So that's one reason why he choose it that way, and I'm cool with that :P
Mostly cause I'm a fan of the Civil War, the history that is.

Re: Korra Nation
You can find racism anywhere, even where it isn't intended. It's just a matter of how you look at things.
