Movies
i noticed that we have a literature thread but we dont have a thread where people can share what they've recently seen. not to mention, the movies we've seen tend to stray into other topics at times...so now we can keep them all together ^_^
the most recent movie ive seen is Coraline. and if you are a Tim Burton fan (even though this has nothing to do with him) you must see it. it's amazing. i thought it was going to be terrible but it's pretty sick. ^_^ there's also a book too so you can read that ^^

Re: Movies
I haven't seen many movies lately. The last one I saw was last year, Spiderman 3. It wasn't as good as the others. It was ok. I didn't care for it too much since it seemed to drag on. The Sandman was a cool bad guy, though the symbetoe or whatever it is called, the black alien, was meh. All it did was fuse to Peter and make him a lame badman. Oh wow you just split some milk, you're real bad!
It also seemed to force the idea of revenge too much. Peter wanting revenge against Harry for ruining his love life. Harry wanting revenge on Peter for being spiderman, that one guy wanting revenge on Peter for ruining his career, Peter wanting revenge on Sandman for killing his uncle, and Sandman guy wanting revenge on Peter for making him wet.
Too much revenge makes me fall asleep!

Re: Movies
Yeah that movie does look interesting. The way they animated and the plot I suppose. I mostly like the look of animation, claymation is cool! The last movie I saw from a similar creator was Corpse Bride. My sister normally doesn't like doing things by herself, so she wanted me to come along with her. It was interesting. I liked the stop motion clay animation.

Re: Movies
yeah, Corpse Bride was Tim Burton. that's like his specialty. thats why so many people were confused and thought Coraline was also Tim Burton. because they keep saying "from the director of Nightmare Before Christmas". those advertisers are so tricksy =P

Re: Movies
I'll be honest I only saw the commercial not the spokesperson. I thought the two were actually the same person, until you just said something right now

Re: Movies
^ yeah that's the whole point. they wanted people to think it was Tim Burton so more people would go see it. because most people dont know that Tim Burton did not direct Nightmare Before Christmas, he produced it. and thats how they sucked everyone in. it was a nice plan ^_^ and then they show the trailer for Tim Burton's 9 which also looks good.
the commercials honestly dont do Coraline justice. the movie is much darker than the commercials make it out to be.

Re: Movies
So did they say that somewhere? Like that was the idea to trick people? It works though. If you get a familar face or name people will eat it up, even if it's burnt potato chips.
I really want to see The Dark Knight. I haven't seen either yet. Though I'm just going to skip the first and go straight to the second. Unless I need to see the first to understand the second....can anyone confirm this?

Re: Movies
I can imagine. They aren't using the smart sly like Joker, they are using the psychopath Joker from the old old Batman. I mean you can tell from the make-up and cut lips that he isn't as stable as the Joker from our time. Look closely at his lips, he cut the sides to resemble a larger mouth like smile that is seen on clowns. He has stitches on them...I guess he realized it was a bad idea after all?

Re: Movies
Yeah, this Joker is very creepy looking. But I think that all clowns are creepy. And he looks like an evil clown.

Re: Movies
Yeah sadly that's all I can come up with now for the time being. I haven't seen any other movies besides Spiderman 3 really....I did see some clips here and there on TV as they played Back to The Future. The first and third were pretty good. I wasn't as wild about the second where he goes to the future.

Re: Movies
Hey Lee, have you ever seen the movie "Glory?" If you haven't you should, it's a movie that you'd probably like. My class watched it a few months ago.

Re: Movies
Yeah I have seen it a long long long time ago. It was pretty interesting. Much more accurate in the portrayal of the carnage of the battles then the movie Gettysburg.
Though I can't remember much of it. It's like a vague memory with fragments here and there.
There are clips of the major scenes such as the fights in Glory (Antietam and attempting to take the fort) Gettysburg (Picketts Charge), and Gods and Generals (Chancellorsville, Manassas, and Fredricksburg) on youtube.
I know this since I would kill time during my long hour breaks in school. Though watching those scenes can only work so long until it bores the heck out of me lol.

Re: Movies
Ok double post.
I watched X-Men 3 the other night. It was on TV, I had seen X-men 1 and 2. Though I never got around to seeing the third and last one.
It was ok, I liked the other two better though. I'll say one thing, they killed off a lot of main characters. And for what? A really stupid reason. The Professor Wheel Chair man and Cyclops both died due to the mind controlling lady. They both wanted to save her since she was one of the good guys once. They died because of that. And in the ending, the others kill her anyway. Talk about pointless deaths. They all told her "Don't let it control her." but until the very end she did, and then they killed her.
Usually deaths of main characters have a pretty good meaning, I couldn't see any here.

Re: Movies
yeah i borrowed all three one weekend from a friend and watched them all. i was so happy because none of the characters i liked died. and then the third one comes along and i lost two of them. why couldnt she have stayed dead in the second one if she was just going to die again in the third one! jeez.
and Rogue gave away her powers which i was annoyed with.
Xavier didn't die though Lee. at least...well he did but he didnt. at the end of the credits, there's this 30 second scene. some woman comes into a hospital to a guy who's unconscious. then the guy wakes up and says "Mora <sp?>" then she says "Xavier." and then it ends. no clue what it means but thats what happens =P

Re: Movies
Well they cut the ending short. It was the part where Magento was attempting to move the chess pieces. It kinda shook, but then they cut right away and fast forwarded through the credits.
I didn't really care for Xavier, Cyclops was cool. Although if they killed off Wolverine, I'd hunt those turd heads down.

Re: Movies
I wasn't sure where to put this but yesterday was the Film Festival.
Basically, the awards were complete bs because the rule was the films had to be 10-12 minutes and one film was given 20. so that basically meant they had more time to develop story, have better cinematography, editing, etc.. with that being said, that film won pretty much everything. i tied with them for Best Director and another movie won one category. and at first i felt bad because i was wondering why i won for Best Director when there was a better movie than mine that didnt win anything. it was very uncomfortable watching my movie because i felt like it was too complicated for the audience compared to all the other stuff they were watching which was basically senseless violence, cursing, and drug use.....but then i felt better when some people came up to me and congratulated me even though they were all on the more.....intelligent side.... so thats basically what happened. ^^

Re: Movies
yay double post =P
did you guys hear about the new X-Men movie being leaked? =O
i must confess...i watched 20 minutes of it.....and then i stopped myself. i was mostly curious as to what the scenes look like before they finish special effects. and it's interesting...i think i can do the basic animation in a program that i learned how to use last year....if i was skilled enough....so that was exciting =D
