"My point is: you should have seen them running but you didn't. Which means they escaped somehow other than running away." Suddenly, something clicked. "The sewers! Maybe after you flipped the van, they went into the sewers."

Anaea then stopped for a moment, still thinking out loud.

"We need to get back to that van and see where they went. If we catch them, we can prove our innocence."

At first Jet remained completely silent at Quiver's response, as he stared at her. "You're kidding right? You want us to go back to the scene?"

He then rolled his eyes, but it wasn't like she or anyone could tell with his mask on. "You do know the old saying right?"

Anaea then looked at him, wondering what sort of saying he was talking about.

"You know?" Jet said, realizing that she wasn't getting it. "The criminal always comes back to the scene."

"Do you think these guys will really go back after being all over the news?" Anaea asked, a little unsure if that saying applied to this particular case.

"Not them, us!" Jet said, after slapping a palm on his forehead. He then expressively used his hands, to depict his irritation. "That place probably has the cops sniffing all over it."

Anaea then blushed at the mistake.

"Well we've got to do something! We can't just let those criminals get away with it and let the police blacken our names."

"Well what do you suggest?" Jet asked, as they still stood in the alleyway. "Cause if it was between me, I would just speed on out of here. This place is a dirt hole as it is."

He added, recalling all the times where people made fun or jeered him for actually protecting them. Even if it was only petty thieves. These robbers with guns were a whole different story. And to top things off, the citizens held their noses up higher, the farther his deeds went.

"Oh, I see, so you're just going to give up," Anaea said. She knew she was being insulting but she also knew that by challenging him, he might just turn around and do the opposite of what he was suggesting. "Look," Anaea added, giving Jet very little time to react to her first comment. "We can do a number of things: we can go back to the van, back to where they were first spotted, or go to the hospital and see if these two events are connected."

Quickly Jet folded his arms, with a frown. "Hey, what are you suggesting? That I can't hack it, cause I'll show you!" He exclaimed, after her first response.

He really didn't know what Anaea was going on about with the hospital, but he allowed her to continue. "Well I can check the van out again...if you want to check out the hospital."

He suggested, if worst came, he could always get away more detected then her.

Anaea then paused.

"Though, I'm sure you'll be done before I am."

Although there were plenty of hospitals, the closest one was just a few blocks away. It was small and seemed to be built during the late 50's. There were a few ambulances parked at the lot, including some in the bottom garage.

It was a very blocky architectural design, with a roof that extended out into the driveway of the entrance. There were two double doors and it was the only front doors for visitors not associated with the hospital to enter from.

There was a receptionist at the front desk, constantly taking calls and writing out papers. There was little action at this time and most of the hallways seemed empty. As far as any visitor knew, they could had been their first patient in hours.

Elsewhere, Jet sped off, not giving Quiver a second word or thought. As he made it to the scene, keeping out of sight and on top of some roof, he spotted the van.

It was still tipped over and ice cream was everywhere. Over the van's front windows, over the back door, all inside, and still in the barrels. Some more police had shown up, tapping off the scene to all spectators.

There were even some journalist and photographers taking pictures and asking questions.

"Well, I'll take that as a 'yes'," Anaea said to herself, a little annoyed as Jet sped off without a word. She then made her way towards the hospital.

When she did reach it, she poked her head so she could get a brief glance of what was going on inside. She saw one receptionist that looked busy. When she was looking the other way and talking on the phone, Anaea opened the door quickly, crouched down, and hid behind some waiting chairs. Watching the receptionist carefully, Anaea sneaked past her and towards one of the empty halls.

In the halls, Anaea felt completely out of her element. This wasn't the streets where she could hide in an alleyway or quickly climb some stairs. She knew she had to be careful.

The hallways were completely empty. The tiled floors were cold and the air gave off a chilly feeling.

The static buzzing of the lights, which flickered sometimes, gave off an unwelcoming and or irritating feel. It was definitely not a place where someone would want to visit or stay of free will.

Whatever Anaea was going searching for, she would not find here...maybe elsewhere, but not in these particularly boring and plain hallways.

Besides the front entrance, there were a few bathrooms located all over the hospital's layout, several different rooms where patients were checked up on, or stayed for their injuries, and offices for the doctors on duty.

Anaea knew the best place to look was wherever the vault was that had been robbed.

"Now, if I were to put a vault in the hospital, where would I put it?" Anaea asked herself. She then began to see a few rooms that had the names of doctor's on them and guessed it was their offices. Scanning the names on the door, she searched for one of the higher ups.

-

The reporters and journalists were yelling over one another just to get their question in.

"Do you have any new information regarding the two suspects?" on asked, shoving the microphone as far towards the officers as possible.

"Do you believe there was some ulterior motive behind the crime?" another inquired.

"What flavor ice cream did they steal?"

As Quiver infiltrated and sneaked through the hospital, she came across a series of offices. One of which owner was currently inside of and making a very peculiar phone call.

"Look, it's not my problem." The stranger in the office said. "That branch doesn't even belong to us." He added, but whoever was on the other line could not be heard. Only a few muffled or chitters echoed through the speaker from their end.

"Alright...calm down." He said in an annoyed. Quickly the sound of a moving seat on the floor echoed, as the man pushed over to the corner of the desk, all the while still on the phone. He brushed through a few papers, folders, and documents.

"So the stuff came from Bradford Street Branch. Place has been abandoned for years. They were attacked while en-route to escorting the supplies to..." He explained to whoever was over the phone.

"Look it doesn't matter. The shelf life of everything there was well expired. They couldn't do anything with it."

Elsewhere Jet boringly sat on top of a roof as he watched journalists taking notes, photographers snapping shots, and the police doing their authority duties. He wasn't getting anything out of this.

That was until the wind picked up, a very heavy one at that. It blew a gust of energy through the area, some garbage and debris near the van being picked up in it all.

Most of the garbage tumbled or flew away from the scene and anyone's contact, except for a few pieces of trash heading Jet's way.

A piece of paper flew right into his face, as the others followed behind either blowing to the right and left of him. Grabbing the wrapper off of his face, he stretched out the paper, which was actually a discarded wrapper.

It was a dark brown, with white lined edges, and had a symbol of a fudge popsicle. Above the artwork was also the name of the brand, Little Pops.

Pulling away from the wrapper, he then looked closer at the van. The logo on the side was completely scratched, but he could just make out the title now, which was the same as the wrappers.

I remember that place. I used to buy these everyday as a kid. Quickly he sped off, leaving a wrapper to gently float back onto the ground.

Frantically the two thugs from before burst into a large warehouse. They quickly entered from some double doors, the entire place was dark, not a light on, and it was also unkempt and dusty.

They both breathed heavily, leaning onto their knees, as they could no longer support themselves. "You two are late." A voice echoed, which got their attention.

"So where is the stuff?" They asked, entering into what light was around.

"Some freak wrecked our ride!" One of the thugs shouted after a gasp of air.

"So you lost all of it?" The man asked in a very displeased tone.

"Not...exactly..." The other thug added, standing up straightly. "It kind of spilled in the van...all over us..."

"You idiot!" The man shouted. "All those years of research down the drain!? I should had known better to send the two of you."

He then looked at the two thugs with an expression of shock. Staring at them fully, he pulled away from his thoughts.

"What is this?...Maybe all is not lost after all..." He said happily.

_______________________

Bradford Street was just like any other street in Little Springs, that is if an old abandoned street, full of desolate residential homes, and a nearly obliterated, but still standing hospital seemed the norm.

Little Pops was another place common in Little Springs, an abandoned building. Once a bustling factory and business for fudge-sicles, it was now just another memory of the life Little Springs once was. Since the increase of criminal records within the recent years, many businesses and lives ceased to exist...and no one ever seemed to rise to the challenge.

Quiver listened intently at the conversation. She frowned a little as the conversation shifted, hoping he would be able to tell her exactly where the people driving the van had gone. But Bradford Street had to do.

Quiver listened until she could listen no more or the conversation had come to an end. Quietly, she slipped out of the hospital and headed towards Bradford Street. When she came closer to her destination, Quiver's guard gradually rose, not knowing what to expect.

Within the isolated and heap yard known as Bradford Street, not a person nor animal of any kind stirred. There seemed to had been some kind of fire recently, or maybe it was just the pungent smell of burning buildings and other materials.

Still everything within this street just screamed that it would be the perfect nesting for crimes and criminals. Dust and debris hanged in the air, from whatever was burned previously, and it wasn't just where Quiver was, the pungent and debris polluted the entire street.

Even more this screamed authority incompetence or lack of manpower. With such an overpopulated crime rate, starting many years before, it is no wonder that the new forces were having difficulty maintaining much around here, let alone this place.

Everywhere one would go would seem someone was watching them through the alleyways, windows, cracks, anywhere. It was truly an unwelcoming place to be.

Slowly someone emerged, walking casually towards Quiver, but still far away. Behind their back they finally pulled out a well used crowbar, which had many dents and paint chipped off of it from all different sides.

Then another armed stranger came out, with his choice of weapon, and then another who pulled out a switch blade quickly. Soon the street was full of different thugs just popping out everywhere.

"Looks like the boss was right. They'd come right over here and take the bait." The thug with the crowbar said, tapping it gently, but intimidatingly in his palm.

Meanwhile Jet finally made it to Little Pop's Factory, before pushing open the factories double doors much like the two driver thugs from before.

"I know you're in here somewhere, come out and we can settle this easily." Jet shouted, as he cupped his mouth. "No need to make this harder. Let's be grown ups here."

Slowly one of the thugs emerged from behind a large boiler like mechanism, possibly for making or mixing the different ice cream products. "So where's your other friend? I don't have all day." Jet added annoyed, as he crossed his arms and tapped.

"I'm the only one here, he left." The driver thug mentioned. "Oh well, too bad. I'll just knock it out of you then."

"I'd like to see you try that!" The driver exclaimed, quickly Jet rushed up to him, and clenched a fist. As fast as he could, he punched him right in the face.

Immediately the thug's head went back, stretched pretty far, and than sprung back into place. "What the..." Jet uttered confused.

"My turn," The thug said with a smug.

Upon seeing the thugs, Quiver took out a fire arrow and shot it just in front of the closest thug to her.

"Stay back," Quiver warned, aiming another arrow; this time, a wind one.

The thugs all encircled Quiver at this time, patting their aluminum bats or crowbars. Everyone of them had a different tool of intimidation, a bat, a hammer, a steel rod, whatever they could find lying about in this heap of a once mighty town.

Thankfully however it didn't seem like any of them had ranged weapons in the mix, but numbers were definitely on their side. The one arrow that she fired did little to deter these dirty and scruffy thugs.

Quickly one of the thugs ensnared her with some chains, which wrapped around her chest. They tightened quickly, locking her arms from being of any use as well.

"Get her!" The one thug who spoke before shouted. Just as he finished, the entire group of thugs screamed warrior or criminal cries, before charging towards her. One of the thugs approached her first, rising his rusty wrench high into air, before bringing it down onto her.

Elsewhere Jet sped through the abandoned warehouse with lightning speed. Suddenly a large reddish and long blur zipped in front of him, before pounding into the floor.

The ground could not withstand the force, as debris and small portions of smoke burst out every which way. As the reddish blurred line receded back, a small crater on the concrete floor was evident.

In the process of a well timed leap, Jet completely missed the attack, before another walloped in the direction he was heading to. This continued, as Jet sped in zigzags, behind obstacles, leaping, anything to avoid this attack.

Quickly the blurred figure receded back to the thug, revealing it to be his elastic arm which snapped back into size and shape. "You're going to have to catch your breath sooner or later kid! I can keep this up all day!" He exclaimed, before launching both his stretchy fists again.

Quiver tried to break free but to no avail. As the first man came running towards her, Quiver swerved to the left then kicked the man in the gut. She then moved closer to the main who had the chains and kicked him from behind. The thug staggered, causing him to loosen his grip on the chains.

When she was free, Quiver aimed a wind arrow towards the thugs that were nearby. She aimed towards one of the thug's shoulders, leaving enough room so she would only hit fabric. She then shot another arrow towards another, who wasn't near the first thug, thug's pants.

The thug with the rusty wrench and the other binding her with chains were out for the count. Being kicked in their chest and stomaches was enough excruciating pain to keep them writhing on the floor.

Suddenly one of her wind arrows zipped by the crowd, pinning one of the thugs collars directly onto a wooden fence. Shocked at the attack, he tried to budge, but the arrow was too embedded in his shirt's cloth and the fence. Then another was shot elsewhere. This thug lifted his pelvic upwards, with both hands, as the arrow passed underneath.

By only a hair, he avoided being hit by the arrow, before breathing deeply in relief. Yet the fight was far from over, with only just four thugs out of the dozen down.

Quickly the others encircled her, while one in particular, who was behind her, punched the backside of her head.

Not expecting the hit, Quiver groaned and nearly fell forward. She held onto the back of her head for a minute, trying to avoid incoming attacks. With her head still pounding, she hit the man who had hit her with her bow. She then fired a fire arrow to keep some of the men back in order to avoid getting hit like that again.

Being conked in the head, from the staggering women who was down but not out, the thug quickly fell on his back out cold.

There were still at least eleven men surrounding her, more or less. Armed to the teeth with crowbars, wrenches, hammers, whatever melee weapon they found lying around. An arrow zipped by, causing several thugs behind her to lose distance against her, as they quickly backed up.

As she aimed at the men behind her, the three men who were once at her front took the chance and charged. One man swung his crowbar diagonally as another struck downwards with his hammer.

Simultaneously, once her attention was on them, the enemies in the back charged her as well, swinging their weapons with much ferociousness.

Meanwhile Jet smiled, placing his hands on his hip, with a large smug. "Look's like you're all tied up." He said, as the elastic man had been stretched, and tied to all corners, objects, and almost everything within the abandoned factory.

He flicked his captured enemy, as his rubbery body sprung and jiggled. "Tied up, that's a good one." He said to himself, with a chuckle.

Suddenly a large shadow cast over his body, before he turned to meet it's maker. "You're our last sample, guess you'll have to do." The shaded man said, before a swift impact knocked The Jet out cold.

When the two were near her, Quiver went down and kicked whoever was near her across the legs. She then took out a poison arrow quickly and brushed it against the next wave of people. If she was right, the poison on the arrows should have shown side effects immediately after contact.
