Konata's Self Portraits

Post  Shanghai on Sat Jul 25, 2009 1:35 am

I'd like to say I drew these, but that would be a lie.

I actually found a screenshot of Konata (I'm 99% sure it was a screenshot, at least), and traced it, copied the tracing (so I'd have a "master copy") and colored in the copy.

It took me quite a while (maybe about an hour and fifteen minutes total?) for me to do this, and I'm pretty happy with it, considering my lack of artistic ability.

Well they are very nice!

About your master copy, couldn't you have scanned it in like you did and printed a version out? I'm sure that would of been easier and a lot faster...then again some printers don't do a good job at grabbing all of the details.

Anyway it's very nice, would you mind showing us the link of the image you were looking at?

Man I really need to start drawing again....I feel so overwhelmed with work and just other work in general. It seems every time I find the time to have spare time something happens where I can't get done what I want to.

Like when I had my flu I was losing to much concentration to draw right so I just did the fiction...

^ see i find myself doing the complete opposite. Im doing things that are unnecessary when I should be doing my scripts and stuff ^^; I guess it's cause I'm having severe writer's block.

Traced a picture of Konata cosplaying as Haruhi...

and colored it in!

The 5 shades of blue were annoying....

Then, I got a picture of Konata eating a chocolate coronet...

...before moving on to Osaka.

Heh. Double post. Sorry.

Also, to answer the question, the idea for coloring came WAY before the "Hey! Let's put it on the internet!" idea.

And here are my sources: (All of them are screencaps. I make it a point to NOT trace other people's drawings.)

^ did you use tracing paper and if so, did you just darken in the lines with your pencil? when i scan something in that still has only pencil marks, it doesnt come anywhere near as dark as these pictures.

I used printer paper which, AFAIK, is not tracing paper (I may be wrong...).

I made the lines a bit dark to counteract the problem of the stuff being too LIGHT when I scan it.

I know why I didn't notice these earlier! I typically only look at the colored version where, for obvious reasons, they are unnoticeable.
